Today's Japanese words are 'kanpai' and 'izakaya'
'Kanpai' is a toast like 'cheers' or 'chin-chin' said before drinking together. The Japanese really like to say this! You will undoubtedly go to an 'Izakaya' which is the Japanese equivalent to the British pub. Japanese only say 'kanpai' before their first drink and normally not before any following.
Since the Japanese have their unique sense of beauty, they don't like to pour beer into glasses fully like in the UK. They like 30:70 (30 percent bubble and 70 percent beer) in the glass. The Japanese think the ratio of 30:70 is beautiful. So even if you think it's not enough beer, don't say so to the waiter or waitress.
